Project Acknowledgment — Hasyim Bin Salim Hilaby, LC., M.M.

Delivering a diplomatic building is never the work of a single architect, contractor, or institution. It requires continuous coordination across multiple layers of responsibility: the client and its representatives, the host-country authorities, diplomatic and administrative procedures, consultants, contractors, specialist suppliers, inspectors, technical reviewers, and the many individuals responsible for decisions throughout design and construction.

The development of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia building in Jeddah required precisely this level of coordination. Beyond the technical demands of architecture and construction, the project operated between two different languages, administrative environments, and professional cultures — Saudi and Indonesian — where understanding context was often as important as translating words.

Within this process, Mr. Hasyim Bin Salim Hilaby, LC., M.M., serving as Liaison Officer and Owner’s Representative, played an important role in maintaining continuity between the Consulate and the project team.

His contribution extended well beyond translation. He coordinated communications, followed up documentation and administrative requirements, clarified the owner’s objectives, facilitated decisions, and helped communicate technical and contractual matters between the different parties involved.

Equally important was his ability to bridge cultural differences. Throughout a long and demanding construction process, he helped both sides understand not only what was being communicated, but the context and intention behind it — an often overlooked responsibility in international and diplomatic projects.

From INJ Architects, we extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Hasyim Bin Salim Hilaby for his commitment, patience, professionalism, and sustained contribution throughout the project.

His efforts formed part of the collective work that enabled a complex diplomatic project, involving numerous stakeholders and layers of coordination, to progress from drawings and approvals to a completed building.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation.
