Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman confirmed that the carbon-neutral city that Saudi Arabia plans to build in NEOM will cover homes, offices,
public parks and schools vertically within a reflective facade that extends for more than 170 kilometers (150 miles), the crown.

“Mohammed bin Salman” revealed for the first time plans for the “The Line” project in January 2021.
It is the first major construction project for the $500 billion NEOM business district aimed at diversifying the economy of the world’s largest oil exporter.
As the city, which is 200 meters wide and powered by 100% renewable energy, will also include a high-speed rail with a 20-minute end-to-end crossing.
The Saudi Press Agency quoted him as saying that it would eventually accommodate 9 million residents.
“City’s vertically layered communities will challenge traditional flat, horizontal cities,” the prince said.
The Line’s designs
“The Line’s designs embody what urban communities will look like in the future in an environment without roads, cars, and emissions.”
While the prince announced last year that the project’s infrastructure would cost between $100 and $200 billion,
the Saudi Press Agency did not provide any updated figures.
Announcement reveals the most important characteristics of the line,
which is only 200 meters wide, 170 kilometers long and 500 meters above sea level.
The line will eventually accommodate 9 million residents and will be built on an area of 34 square kilometers, which is
inaudible when compared to other cities of similar capacity.
This, in turn, will reduce the impact of infrastructure and create unprecedented efficiencies in city jobs.
Its perfect climate all year round will also ensure that residents enjoy the surrounding nature when touring.
Residents will also be able to access all the amenities of THE LINE within a five-minute walk.
As well as a high-speed rail with end-to-end crossing of 20 minutes.

His Highness added: “We cannot ignore the environmental and living crises facing the cities of the world,

While the line introduces a new approach to urban design,
the idea of layering the city works vertically while giving people the ability to move seamlessly in three dimensions (up, down or across) to reach them.
A concept referred to as Zero Gravity Urbanism, this concept differs only from tall buildings.
It applies this concept to public parks, pedestrian areas, schools, homes and workplaces,
so that one can move easily to reach all daily needs within five minutes.
